- Cuckoo was inspired by and named for the naturalist M. A. Koekkoek, Dutch for "cuckoo," and his watercolor illustrations of local ecosystems. Harmen Liemburg introduces chicanery to dry scientific illustration by borrowing elements from comic books in this irreverent take on traditional toile de Jouy.
