A large-scale bande dessin e (French for "drawn strip"), Chinoiserie by Blexbolex tells a cyclical story in the form of a repeating pattern. The artist alludes to disparate sources of inspiration, including Flemish artist Pieter Bruegel's c. 1560 painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus and American cartoonist Winsor McCay's 1905-1914 comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland.
