About Joni Sternbach

New York-based photographer Joni Sternbach (b. 1953, United States) is best known for her series of shoreline photography. She uses the labor-intensive technique of the wet-plate collodion process, which dates back to the 1850s, to explore the connection between the coastal landscape and its inhabitants. She received her MFA from New York University / International Center of Photography and has taught there for over twenty years.
