About Sarah Crowner

Sarah Crowner (b. 1974, United States) is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a MFA from Hunter College in New York. Crowner is known for colorful and bold compositions of patterned tile structures and paintings made of sewn linen and canvas. Referencing 20th century abstraction, as well as patterns found in nature and architecture, Crowner's works often register as hard-edged geometric paintings from afar, but are actually more object-driven in nature.
