Maharam and Knoll Textiles are committed to supporting art and design education through fellowships, professional development, and in-kind contributions.

RISD Maharam Fellowship
Since 2012, Maharam has partnered with Rhode Island School of Design to support projects working in arenas not typically associated with art and design through internships with nonprofits, governments, and non-governmental organizations.

From 2012 to 2020, the fellowships emphasized the promotion of STEAM, a national, congressional initiative to integrate art and design education into STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Since 2021, the Fellowship has supported students pursuing projects that aspire to advance social progress and safeguard the environment.

Free Arts NYC
Since 2021, our design studio has partnered with Free Arts NYC to host paid internships for local high school and college-aged students interested in textile and graphic design.

In-Kind Contributions
We provide samples free of charge to individual students as well as educational and cultural institutions. Students can order up to five product samples per day from the Knoll Textiles and Maharam offering by registering for a Student account on maharam.com. Schools and institutions interested in receiving samples should contact their sales representative.
