Tabboo! (b. 1959, United States), also known as Stephen Tashjian, is a New York-based artist whose multifaceted practice encompasses painting, illustration, and performance including singing, puppetry, and drag. A cultural touchstone of downtown New York since his emergence in the 1980s East Village underground scene, Tabboo! draws from a vast archive of pop culture imagery, from iconic cityscapes and celebrity portraits to logos and toys. Tabboo's work is included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and The Museum of Fine Art, Houston.
