About Maria Cornejo

Maria Cornejo (b. 1962, Chile) is a fashion designer who creates garments guided by the idea of wearable luxury for everyday women. She is known for the simplicity and geometry of her designs as well as her longtime commitment to local manufacturing and responsible business practices. Cornejo started her career with the design partnership Richmond Cornejo and worked as a creative consultant for major retailers such as Joseph, Tehen, and Jigsaw before developing her signature Maria Cornejo collection. In 1998, she opened the first Zero + Maria Cornejo store in Manhattan where she started making garments with upcycled materials. In 2023, she received a lifetime achievement award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
