Skywiper 137
300121–001
Skywiper 137's colorfully striated composition was created by infecting a digital photograph of a monochrome painting with Skywiper, a computer virus used in cyber espionage. Hoff ran multiple iterations of the process, with each infection of the malicious code altering the image differently to build up the contrast, saturation, color, and digital textures that comprise the work's formal elements. This approach reimagines Skywiper as a digital paintbrush, creating an abstract work that subverts conventional techniques of painting and displaying art.
Installation is sized, priced and produced on a project-specific basis.
